Some tenants in Accra are lamenting high rent. The law regarding rent allows landlords to accept 3month’s advance but some of them defy the law.

 

This year 2022 rent has gone up. Dorjonews.com cited news whereby a landlord took money from the tenant but is failing to give the room to the person who rented it.

 

The law on renting has to be highly effective in Ghana. Government has to make sure that the law on rent works properly.

Some tenants are pleading with the government to help them deal with issues on rent and especially buying land and house.

Why is the Law on Rent not Effective in Ghana Especially Accra? Our law permits 3months rent advance but some go against it and take 2years which becomes difficult for some people.

 

Renting in Accra is higher than in all the regions in Ghana that’s why several people sleep in kiosk and container shops because that’s what their money can provide them.

The question is will the government listen to cry of tenants?
