The Ultimate Guide to Koenigsegg and the Cars They Keep Making
Koenigsegg has been the go-to manufacturer of luxury, high-performance supercars for the last few decades and the cars they keep making are always better than the ones they made before.
The Swedish manufacturer has an impressive track record and their cars are some of the most sought after in the entire world, even if you don’t get to drive one, you can stare at them on Instagram all day long! Here’s our ultimate guide to Koenigsegg and the cars they keep making.
Koenigsegg History: A Brief Summary of the Company’s Journey So Far
Founded in 1994 by a man named Christian von Koenigsegg, who was 22 at the time. It took 5 years for them to make their first car, which would later become known as one of the best track cars ever made; after its creation, they sold that car’s production rights to build another vehicle (the CC8S) under it’s brand name.
This brought profit back into Christian’s hands, and he used that money to help fund another project his own supercar.
He set out on a mission in 1998, to create a car that could one day be considered on par with cars like Ferrari’s Enzo or Pagani’s Zonda.
The first few years of development were spent re-engineering their previous creation, turning it into something more than just a track car. It wasn’t until 2002 that they actually started building their dream machine, which would later become known as The CC8S.
After building a successful track car, Koenigsegg turned it’s attention towards a new dream creating one of world’s most exclusive supercars.
After some time, which was spent testing and perfecting their cars in various motorsport championships (the Le Mans series, among others), they started selling their vehicles on an international level starting with Europe, and then moving into other regions.
At around that time is when they really started making headlines all over the world.
There are a lot of interesting facts about their cars, but probably one of the most interesting ones is that all their cars have one thing in common they were engineered and built in-house.
This, combined with heavy involvement in motorsport championships, makes them truly unique when compared to other car manufacturers on a global scale.
More than anything else, it’s this unique characteristic which sets them apart from everyone else.

So, what is a Koenigsegg car exactly? To answer that question, let’s first take a look at some of their history. (Read about the 2021 Lamborghini Urus lease).
The first time Christian von Koenigsegg saw a real life supercar was when he saw an Italian Ferrari F40. That moment became his inspiration for starting up his own company what would eventually become one of Sweden’s premier automobile manufacturers.
- What makes a Koenigsegg supercar? To find out, let’s take a look at some of their most popular models. These include:
The One:1. Named after its peak power-to-weight ratio (1 horsepower per 1 kilogram), it is perhaps one of their most famous cars in recent years.
- The Regera: Named after a Swedish verb that means to reign, it is one of their latest supercars. It has been described as an anti-supercar because it doesn’t require you to rev up or downshift gears, thanks to its unique powertrain.
- The Agera: This is their first model. It was released in 2010 and has since been considered as one of their greatest cars because of its design, power, performance and speed.
- The CCX: First released in 2005, it has been considered as one of their best selling models. It is also known for its aerodynamic abilities and powerful engine.
Koenigsegg in Netflix’s ‘The Ballad of Buster Scruggs’: What’s the Story?
The Netflix anthology film The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, including a scene filmed with a Koenigsegg Agera RS and starring Liam Neeson, Tim Blake Nelson, and Tom Waits, has been well-received by critics.
Where did it all start? What’s up with that car? Koenigsegg? What’s it mean for them? Christian von Koenigsegg, to find out more.
You don’t want to miss this! (Koenigsegg Press Release) Why That Netflix Movie Shot in One of Our Cars Is So Good If you haven’t watched The Ballad of Buster Scruggs yet, then I implore you to make it a priority as soon as possible.
It’s now on Netflix; unlike other movies recently like Bird Box or 1922, these are all individual shorts that tie together as one.
One of my favorite movies has a fairly obscure car company making an appearance. (Read about the 2022 Infiniti QX55).
I’m talking about Buster Scruggs from Netflix’s The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, starring Tim Blake Nelson, Liam Neeson, Tom Waits, and Brendan Gleeson.
For those of you who don’t know, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is a Western anthology film. Well, six Western shorts actually.
It includes a scene that was filmed with a Koenigsegg Agera RS, starring Liam Neeson, Tim Blake Nelson, and Tom Waits. I mean. c’mon! (Read Also: 2022 Lamborghini Urus Pearl Capsule).
That’s an insane combination if you ask me. The fact that it can pull off something like that is outstanding! (Read about: 2022 Range Rover).
Why Choose Koenigsegg?
For those unfamiliar with supercars, it’s understandable that you might not know what to make of a car company named after an island in Sweden.
But if you’re willing to take a risk on something exotic, especially if you have money to burn, consider investing in a Koenigsegg.
The company is comprised entirely of Swedish natives who have been working together for decades.
This nearly guarantees that their cars will be high-quality. And we won’t even get into how fast they are!
If you’re familiar with some of their older models, though, you might be surprised by how quickly they’ve grown.
From their first sale in 1994 until 2004, they sold only 21 cars. But that number grew to 45 in 2005 alone.
The company has been growing by an average of over 70% every year since then. It’s clear that if you want a supercar and who doesn’t? there are worse places to look than Koenigsegg.
While some of their older models like Agera R have been sold out for years, there are plenty more that you can get your hands on. One particularly appealing model is Regera.
This limited edition vehicle is manufactured with a V8 engine, but it also comes with a dual-clutch transmission system. You’ll love how well it goes off-road while still delivering unparalleled power!
