Porsche Cayenne Review: Is it Worth the Price?

The Porsche Cayenne has been around for about 20 years, and it’s been the poster child of luxury SUVs ever since its inception. It also happens to be one of the most expensive models in its class, so Porsche fans and SUV aficionados alike will want to know if it’s worth the price. Let’s take a look at this Porsche Cayenne review to find out!

Introduction
The Porsche Cayenne is expensive, and even those who love Porsches don’t always like to spend that much money on a car.

That said, its performance and beauty are on par with even very high-end cars, particularly when you consider that its engine can be had in V8 or V6 formats (depending on where you live).

It may not be for everyone, but if you have a taste for luxury and enjoy powerful engines, there’s no better choice than a Porsche. This is especially true when you consider just how safe and spacious it is for such an expensive vehicle.

The Design
The Porsche Cayenne is a fantastic SUV. It’s one of Porsche’s top-of-the-line models and retails for $64,850 new. The fuel efficiency isn’t great with only 19/26 mpg for city/highway driving, but all those options add up quickly.

Still, there are plenty of things to like about a Porsche including its versatility and performance, not to mention its sleek exterior and luxurious interior. Here’s our review of all things Porsche Cayenne!

The Performance & Specs: Underneath that stylish exterior lies some impressive specs that make taking out on a drive as fun as driving through city streets or off-roading trails in every season.

To start, you’ll find that a Porsche Cayenne is designed to handle rugged off-roading, even in harsh conditions. The ground clearance is impressive with up to 22.8 inches of suspension travel and 22 degrees of approach angle.

This means you can tackle rougher terrains without worrying about damaging your ride or hitting rocks and potholes so hard that they slow you down. To add, there are no skid plates to provide added protection because one isn’t needed when you drive a Porsche!

The Performance & Specs – Second Paragraph: But off-roading isn’t all that Porsche has going for it this ride can handle city streets just as well, maybe even better than some other SUVs on the market.

The Interior
The inside of a Porsche is known for its high-quality materials and attention to detail. The Cayenne doesn’t disappoint here either. Porsche is rated at the same level as Lamborghini, Mclaren, Ferrari, etc

Though these supercars mentioned are more expensive than the Porsche Cayenne.

It features Nappa leather seats, a multi-function steering wheel, aluminum accents, and carbon-fiber trim. In fact, in some models, you can even get an Alcantara headliner with diamond stitching!

While that sounds a bit excessive (and pricey) you have to see it to understand just how impressive it looks.

The rest of the cabin features more leather and aluminum, along with a TFT screen in front of you that provides everything from audio to climate settings.

Another notable design feature is an air vent system that adjusts automatically depending on your preferences.

The driver’s seat also has a 12-way power adjustment, which is quite unusual in vehicles at any price point! While luxury interiors are expected at $100k+ prices, they shouldn’t be at any price.

These high-quality materials and overall design will be appreciated by anyone who gets behind the wheel.

The Porsche 992 performance is nothing short of astounding. With 513 horsepower and a weight of 4,837 pounds, you might not expect it to be a rocket on wheels. You’d be wrong!

The engine takes only 3.7 seconds to hit 60 mph and 7.9 seconds to reach 100 mph. That is seriously fast! These speeds are achieved without much hassle or hesitation, which makes for a smooth ride that other vehicles at any price point would be jealous of.

Performance
The 2016 Porsche Cayenne Diesel delivers an impressive 434 lb-ft of torque. That’s 200 more than some V8 engines and enough to hit 60 miles per hour in about 5.4 seconds when paired with a capable transmission.

Unfortunately, ours was mated to Porsche’s first-ever dual-clutch, or PDK, an automated manual that shifts slowly and often clumsily. It’s still better than most transmissions in its class, but shifts between second and third feel like they take a lifetime.

Handling is a strong suit, with minimal body roll when cornering and excellent brake feel. As expected, ride quality is firm in all driving modes except Sport Plus, but even there it’s far better than most cars in its class.

Front seats are comfortable with excellent lumbar support; rear-seat passengers may be cramped, however.

All models feature Porsche’s unique power liftgate that opens by itself upon approaching the car. Optional 22-inch wheels look great but swallow nearly any tire on sale for SUVs—ideally low-profile tires for added performance and comfort.

What are customers saying about this car?
Most people who own it would recommend buying at least one optional accessory package, which adds quite a bit to its price tag.

But if you like SUVs and you’re looking for something that’s safe, comfortable, and good-looking, you’d be hard-pressed to find anything better than the Porsche Cayenne.

It has power handling, and excellent performance, and looks like a beast when parked in front of other luxury vehicles.

But most customers agree that even with these add-ons, its price is still quite high. Without any options, you’re already looking at more than $70,000 for a base model.

A loaded model can easily be priced in excess of $150,000. This makes it a vehicle for people who have significant resources and want to spend as much money as possible on their cars.

How does it drive?: The Porsche Cayenne has been ranked near the top of many experts’ lists when it comes to luxury SUVs.

With 516 horsepower and a V8 engine that provides both power and smoothness, you’ll always feel safe in its presence on busy roads or winding country paths whether you’re driving yourself or letting your driver take over.

Conclusion- Final Word
If you’re in need of a high-quality SUV with a powerful engine and stunning design, then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t consider purchasing a Porsche Cayenne.

This vehicle is practical for families, spacious enough to travel anywhere you want, and features plenty of amenities to make every ride enjoyable.

However, if you don’t have quite as much money set aside for a luxury car as some people do, then keep looking; buying a $60,000+ car might not be worth it for some people.

Nonetheless, if you can afford to buy one or are looking for an investment that will pay off over time the Porsche Cayenne is your best bet! 4.6 out of 5 stars for the price-quality ratio.

Would definitely recommend it to friends who want a reliable 4×4 SUV without paying too much cash upfront.

The Porsche Cayenne comes in two different versions, one with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and another with a V8. Both can be outfitted with either all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, depending on your preference.

The V8 will get you from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and up to a top speed of 150 mph if you select the Sport Chrono Package. This version also features an off-road package for more rugged terrain that’s worth considering if you spend a lot of time in nature.

If you want one of these SUVs but can’t afford a brand new model, then consider purchasing a preowned one instead!
