Japan is now struggling with the worst wave of the covid-19 pandemic. The Japanese government is working to hold another general election in October.
Yoshihide Suga’s resignation sets for a new prime minister to take over. Suga will be stepping down by the end of this month. His term was mobbed by the unpopular covid-19 pandemic response.
Suga told his party executives that he will not run again. This means Suga’s party has to choose a new leader to replace him in the upcoming elections.
